There is no television experience quite like the one you get from LCD monitors. A lot of us are used to the old CTR varieties, but quickly change our minds after seeing the quality that LCD presents. The text below is a discussion of things you will want to know about these monitors before you buy one.

In general, we usually know about what size of monitor we would like to have before we buy one. Another thing you should also think about it the display shape. Many of us are used to the old square versions, but find we much prefer the rectangular ones in reality. The ability to make adjustments to the height and angle are also important.

Take a look at the native resolution while you are at it. This is the number of pixels that make up the display. The bigger the screen is the bigger this number should be.

Another important thing to look at is the viewing angle. You don’t want to lose the ability to see what is on the screen when you moving from directly in front of it. That is, of course, unless you are working on some type of secret project. To prevent problems like this you will want to look in to buying monitors with wider viewing angles.

Contrast ratios are also important but their is no one recommendation that is agreed upon by manufacturers. As long as the ratio is something you like you won’t have to worry about anything else. A side by side comparison if different options is the best way to find what you like the most.

Refresh rate is something you will want to look at as well. This is measured in milliseconds and the faster the better. Faster refresh rates mean a crisper image.

Lastly, compatibility is also very important. Your computer needs to have the right connectors or you won’t be able to hook the new monitor up. It also needs to be able to work with the operating system you have without problems as well.

The best way to find something that you will be happy with is to visit a show room so you can compare various models. What looks good to another person may not look that great to you so the best way to figure it all out is to see for yourself.
